Renewing the American Spirit

Patriot Week begins on 9/11 and ends on 9/17 (the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution (Constitution Day)) and renews America’s spirit by celebrating the First Principles, Founding Fathers and other Patriots, vital documents and speeches, and flags that make America the greatest nation in world history. Many of current holidays have become overly commercialized or have lost their deeper meaning. We need to invigorate our appreciation and understanding of America’s spirit. Absolute Power - Why Not Let the Federal Government Do Whatever it Wants? Save Our Republic! #29 The power to do good is the power to do evil. Giving the federal government unchecked power would result in tremendous legislation - which could be 100% what you favor or 100% what you oppose. By limiting the federal government's constitutional authority to issues of nation concern, freedom and policy is better served. Mistakes on the federal level - in a one-size-fits-all approach - causes widespread problems, while mistakes at the State and local level are limited. Restraining the federal government is vital to protecting our First Principles of the rule of law, unalienable rights, limited government, the Social Compact, equality, and the right to alter or abolish oppressive government. Revolution! Is it Time? Was the Storming of the US Capitol Justified? Save Our Republic! #26 The Declaration of Independence holds that revolution is right (and a duty), only when there is a long train of abuses and usurpations that reveal a single object of imposing an absolute despotism on the People. The Declaration of Independence lists 27 grievances (not including sub- grievances) from 1761 to 1776. Thomas Jefferson and the Founders believed that revolution is not justified for temporary or transient reasons, or when there are other means to effect change, like elections, legislation, and constitutional amendments. Unnatural Law - What happens there is no Natural Law and man is unbounded? Save Our Republic #22 If there is no Natural Law, what replaces it? Man made law. When man makes the law, it can be anything. To be able to believe in anything means anything is believable. Man made law eliminates all limits to behavior and subverts the First Principles of the rule of law, unalienable rights, limited government, the Social Compact, equality, and the right to alter or abolish oppressive government. It leads to communism, Nazism, fascism, Japanese Imperialism, the French Revolutionary guillotine, genocide, and other destructive and murderous ideologies. Natural Law - What is it? Does it exist? Why is it Important? Save Our Republic #21 The first sentence of the Declaration of Independence declares: “When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.” The idea is all but forgotten today, but Natural Law is key to the Founding Fathers' understanding of world. They not only believed in truth and self-evident truths, they believed that through reason we could discover the laws of Nature, and as such we should abide and conform to them. Only by following Nature’s Law could we establish a free and just government and find fulfillment and happiness. The First Principles of the rule of law, unalienable rights, limited government, the Social Compact, equality, and the right to alter or abolish oppressive government are all part of natural law.
